Retailers near you Please enter a postcode, street or city to quickly find the nearest Bosch retailer. This shallow cut will serve as a tracking groove for your subsequent tool passes. On each new pass, progressively work the blade deeper and deeper along the full length of the cut. Trapped sawdust in your cut zone is another cause of burning. To reduce the occurrence of smoking on your plunge cuts try adding a little pendulum style swing into your cutting motion. Pulling your blade out of the cut a few times will also help to get some of that trapped sawdust out. You may also need to check your blade cutting teeth for sharpness. Dull worn teeth are another culprit for smoking. Not only do dull teeth contribute to friction heat generation but multi-tool operators tend to press down too hard on their machine when using dull blades, possibly doing harm to the internal mechanics. Get yourself a set of new sharp blades. The larger teeth of the coarse blades flare outwards (or set) from the blade face a little further than on the fine. This flare-out will cut a thicker path (or kerf) into the wood. As you plunge deeper into the wood the coarse blades are better able to deal with the sawdust buildup without binding because there is more blade clearance available. Also the level of smoking associated with plunge cut friction should be less with the coarse over the fine blades. There may also be situations where your multi-tool will be needed to finish up the work you couldn’t complete with your main tools because either they were too bulky or weren’t portable enough.http://sofar-france.com/userfiles/3m-x55i-manual.xml

Regardless of its role, I promise you a multi-tool will be the one that gets you out of that show-stopper jam when it happens. The universal bi-metal blade can be used on these same materials but can additionally be used to cut non-heat treated metals such as nails, bolts, sheet metal etc. However please remember, if you’re solely cutting wood without any chance of nails getting in the way, use a wood blade for the job instead of a bi-metal. Universal bi-metal blades are significantly slower at cutting wood than a good dedicated wood saw blade. If this job is eating up too many of your blades try using our diamond blade attachment. It is designed to cut plaster, lath, backer board, tile and other hard materials. However, using fine saw blades create less dust than the coarse, which may actually be preferred by you over speed. Either way please keep in mind that the soft gypsum in your sheet rock is actually very abrasive on your cutting teeth, if your going to be doing extensive drywall cutting order extra blades. The circular blade is very good for those longer cutting spans in wood, plastics and thin sheet metal. The flexibility of this blade will minimize on any damaging. We can also use the springy nature of this blade to press against our work surface while the blade slides under and separates the material we’re removing. Slowing down or stopping with your tool running will surely lead to melting of the plastic. You can even try the added benefit of using a water spray bottle. Get a helper to spray a water mist in front onto the cut zone as you run the multi-tool along, this will dissipate some of the heat build-up that leads to melting plastic. Lower speeds reduce surface heating and material loading onto your sandpaper. However the real issue I see with sanding is a need for operators to properly hold their multi-tool sanding pad flat to the sanding surface.

There seems to be a tendency by users to press a little too much towards the front tip of the sanding pad. Pressing into the pad tips will not only wear out your sandpaper prematurely at the tip but could possibly have you wearing right through the paper to the Velcro hooks of your pad attachment. Consciously make an effort to hold your sanding pad flat to your work surface. Ask your question here. Provide a clear and comprehensive description of the issue and your question. What is confusing is that the OSL blades which work with this CAN be used on older Bosck multitools. So, there is blade compatibility backward, but again, the GOP40 will not take the OIS blades. The blade removal is absurdly easy: no more hex wrnech or tool to put blades on and off. They literally snap on, and with a turn of the lever, pop right off.

Because of the numerous contact points of the blade connection, I am finding that the power transfer feels stronger and there is no slop at all in the blade movement. And you still have all of the angles of attachment too. The unit itself is a beast. 4 amp motor is top in its class, so there is no lack of power even at the lowest setting. The housing is bombproof, but fortunately the tool is fairly light at 3.5 lbs and feels good in the hand with significantly less vibration than cheaper units. Noise level is less than expected for a multitool. As for uses, just go on youtube. This tool is a lifesaver for doing your own renovation work. Just for removing old caulk, this unit was worth its weight in gold. If you are debating about this unit versus ones that still take OIS, I would note that OIS blades are alot cheaper and there are generics out there. However, I would expect that even the cheaper units will catch up with the new blade attachment system in a few year, so why buy into the old tech unless you are simply destroying tons of blades. In all, I am super happy with the GOP 40.It is very well made, heavy duty, and shows the quality manufacturing that is typical of Bosch. But my first job with the tool was to scrape and sand of houseful of old, beat up storm windows and I really needed the detail sander to help with the prep work. Unfortunately, the sandpaper that comes with this tool and the sanding head are useless. Every sheet of sandpaper I tried vibrated right off the head within two minutes of using it. I used light pressure, firm pressure, different angles and so on, but not a single sheet of the sandpaper held. I've been a professional house painter and owned two painting businesses so I like to think I know what I'm doing but I couldn't make this work. The tool is advertised as coming with 30 accessories, but 25 of them are just useless pieces of sandpaper. If sanding isn't on your list I would say this is a great tool for most other tasks.

It's done a great job. I only have two problems with it. First: I wish I had known that it has a big brother aimed at contractor work before I bought this one. The bigger the better when it comes to multi-tools in my opinion. I just wish it wasn't worth it to avoid the hassle of not having to deal with dull blades because this tool is quickly pricing itself out of my repertoire. I find myself reaching for other tools that can do the job a little bit slower just because I don't want to keep buying exorbitantly priced blades.Plenty of power and a variable speed at the back side of the tool. I love the led light since when your in a tight spot it is hard to see sometimes. Bosh has always performed well for me. Also the cord is nice and long, I think it said 3 feet but it is more like 10.I have no complaints. I am just sitting here, wondering why did I not buy this earlier. It is such a multi purpose tool. I use it for scraping, cutting, sanding, cutting off caulk etc. The uses are endless. Bosch quality cannot be beat. The blade release system doesn't function properly most of the time. I was hoping it would loosen up after the first few times but no luck. It will release the blade no problem but get's hung up in the released position even with the handle in lock position. So when I install another blade I have to pop it back locked with a flat blade screwdriver. That makes it a bit of a pain. But for detailed cutting a charm.I'll give a quick example. I did natural slate tile in my recreation room, and while installing base moulding I noticed huge gaps between trim and floor because of uneven tiles around the perimeter. This little gem allowed me to shave high spots off the tile, which allowed trim to lay perfectly flat!! During same install, I didn't like grout after it dried too bright. In about 30 minutes this tool had it all removed. I like the non abrupt, soft start feature.

Tool feels very balanced in my hand, and has a very long cord which eliminates need for extension cord most of the time. One of my most important go to tools that I have!! No dislikes at all with this tool! Sorry, we failed to record your vote. Please try again I have a number of Bosch tools and I love them all and this one is no exception. Sturdy feeling, long supple cord and did an amazing job. The case is also great for storage and accessories. Also love the long 14' cord that's attached. Don't need to drag a extra cord with you. You will have years of pleasure with this tool.Sorry, we failed to record your vote. Please try again It's a must have. Used it to renovate my bedroom, removed nails, cutting door trims. Really versatile, the quick release to change blades is very convenient. I've never used an Oscillating tool before, I was very surpised how it almost eliminated the need for my Sawzall.
